My La-Z-Boy In-Home Design Journey!

If you’ve been following along with my social media series, you know moving into our new home felt equal parts exciting and overwhelming because it is a completely blank slate! We had this bright, open-concept canvas, but I was stuck on how to make it feel warm and cozy while standing up to two kids, three cats, and my daily photography editing.
I wanted an Organic Modern vibe with earthy browns, greens, and blue accents. As a mom, it had to be kid-safe, durable, and easy to clean (hello, iClean fabrics and wipeable leather!), while giving us ultimate reclined comfort for movie nights.
Enter Hayley, our design superhero from La-Z-Boy, who took us through their 100% FREE In-Home Design Experience. Here’s a quick recap of how we brought this space to life!
EPISODE #1 The Booking Process
The In-Home Visit & Room Puzzle 📐
Before picking out a single piece of furniture, Hayley came right to our house to measure every inch of the space.
We had serious spatial puzzles to solve: our huge island threatened to push our couch off-center, and I wanted to squeeze our existing Canadel solid hardwood dining set right behind the sofa for a cozy dining nook. Hayley mapped it all out so traffic flowed effortlessly!
Episode #2 The Measure
The Showroom Reveal & 3D Magic 🖥️✨
Later that week, we headed into the La-Z-Boy Design Center for the in-store reveal!
3D Layouts: We tested sectionals versus sofas side-by-side in 3D instead of guessing.
Tabletop Mood Board: Hayley laid out real leather swatches, cozy fabrics, rug samples, and wood finishes so we could feel our color story come together.
Finding the perfect pieces! The 3d plans plus having our very own personal shopper, helped us save a ton of time! 🛋️
Here is how our living room came together:
The Acadia Power Reclining Sofa: High-back power headrests gave me the neck support I desperately missed from my old sofa. Plus as an added bonus the high backs act as a wall to define the dining room. I love the rich cognac top-grain leather, it anchors the room, wipes clean instantly from kid spills, and holds up against cat scratches!
The Reegan Swivel Chair: Swivels 360° between the kitchen and TV. Swapping the chair to textured cream / gold flake fabric balanced the room's wood built-ins perfectly.
The Citak Rubicon Rug: Ditching a rough jute rug for this ultra-plush rug, with a thick Surya underlay, gave our kids the squishiest, comfiest floor spot for playing LEGO for hours!
Hammary Nesting Coffee Table & Side Tables: The circular coffee table softens straight lines and hides toy clutter inside, and can act as extra emergency seating. While the black framed glass side tables keep things airy.
Amisco Kitchen Stools: Modern, wipeable and fits perfectly in our space!

Episode #4: Behind the Scenes at the Warehouse! 📦
Before delivery day, I got a special VIP tour of the La-Z-Boy warehouse to watch my pieces being unboxed and inspected! Seeing the care, precision, and craftsmanship behind the scenes gave me a whole new appreciation for everything La-Z-Boy does to make sure your furniture arrives flawlessly.
Episode #5: Delivery Day!
Delivery day was so seamless! The white-glove team set up everything and tested all power functions. Hayley even showed up in person to add final styling touches!
THE BIG REVEAL!
Walking into the finished room for the first time was super emotional. It finally felt like our home. Warm, beautiful, put together, and ready for years of family memories. Love seeing the before and after comparisons!
